Dream in the Hills of Sa Pa with Sagapo Children’s Foundation
In 2010, our journey took us to the misty hills of Sa Pa, a remote and breathtaking region in northwestern Vietnam. We had traveled there with FIAP, eager to explore and photograph the stunning landscapes and vibrant cultures nestled among the terraced rice fields.
Amid the serene beauty of the mountains and villages, we met a young girl named Ly Thi Ha. She was about 15 years old, with kind eyes, a bright spirit, and proudly wearing her traditional dress. With courage and curiosity, she approached us—complete strangers—and spoke in English as best she could. She was eager to share stories about her home, her people, and their way of life. More than just a trekking guide, she became a bridge between her world and ours.
Over the years, we stayed in touch with Ly Thi Ha through the quiet magic of Facebook. Her occasional messages gave us glimpses of her life—moments of resilience, growth, and quiet hope.
Then, in 2024, we returned to Sa Pa—and we found her again. Now, a young woman. A mother. And still, a dreamer. But her dreams had grown bigger.
Ly Thi Ha shared with us the project she holds close to her heart: to open a small English school in her village. Her goal is to help children and adults—especially farmers—gain the language and practical skills needed to improve their lives through work in tourism and hospitality.
She currently offers:
- Two classes for adults (Monday to Friday)
- One class for children (Friday to Sunday)
At Sagapo Children’s Foundation, our mission is to support the education of underprivileged children. While we deeply admire Ly Thi Ha’s efforts to uplift her entire community, our focus will be to strengthen and expand *the children’s educational program, giving more young students in her village the chance to learn English and build a brighter future.
We envision a dedicated space where 20–30 children can gather regularly to learn, grow, and dream. A place where education becomes the key to opportunity. Where the next generation can rise beyond the limitations of poverty and access a better life.
We believe education is a powerful tool for change. And we believe in Ly Thi Ha’s vision.
Together, we are planting seeds of hope in the hills of Sa Pa—for the children, for their future.
